the celeron with 1 mb l2 cache has limitations
but with the 512 mb ram @ 667 mhz, u somewhat offset them

I also noted that the specs really do not tell much. Things like installed RAM base, hard drive size, CD or DVD or a burner, etc. So then I did a Maintenance Manual search and came up with the following:

Personally, the base price seems to be rather high, without telling what the base system contains. Each added part will add to the overall cost of the base system.
Based on user reviews and what information I could find available, I think you should consider the possibility of either a Toshiba Satellite or and Acer Aspire. A good place to look at the best prices for all is at either http://www.geeks.com or http://www.pricewatch.com

Q: Installing Windows XP professional on Compaq notebook-help?
I bought a compaq notebook, it came with a vista premium op system and was offered a certain period of trail,. Now the period has elapsed and so the message "Enter product key" appears on the screen when I boot it.
I want to uninstall this program and install windows XP professional.
Can somebody advice me how to go about this, since? I am uncertain if i will still need the product key to gain access to the PC systems.
Any help from you experienced guys would be highly appreciated!

A: IF YOU CAN keep the computer on for few minutes check in C drive and there is a folder name "DRIVERS" copy the folder to a thumb drive or CD ,if you can not keep your computer running to do so ,try this disconnect from Internet change the date in your PC to few months ago and copy the drives then it is mostly self explained put the operating CD on shot down and restart ,then will ask you ,Hit any key or so to boot from CD,REST of it is self explained if you could not copy the driver when it ask you to quick format or save your older files and utilities ,highlight the line that says Leave your old stuff...If your CD did not boot(original CD) restart open your BIOS and in start up setting select First boot from CD.After installation if some of device will not be seen or working including your display size just install the drivers from your tumb drive.

Q: Compaq notebook 100 cd driver deleted?
I bought a compaq notebook on ebay with a teac cd-224e cd rom 24x speed, however at some point the driver has been deleted.
I have the recovery cd however obviously the laptop isnt seeing the cd drive so i cant use it to reinstall the driver.
I need it to see the cd when it boots up, any ideas, already tried downloading the driver but it doesnt seem to work off a floppy.

A: The computer is a real good computer but for what you want you should get xp not vista because stuff isn't supported and everyone is used to xp.

Thinking of buying a used compaq presario 1700 notebook but the screen stays black after turning it on .it works fine with exteral monitor the owner say`s a friend of his darkend the screen in a attempt to get the computer cheaper but im not sure if it can be darkend or lightend from keyboard is there a hot key or shortcut
