Q: Every time I want to use my computer (Dell notebook) , I have to reboot. How can I fix this?
My computer doesn't hibernate, it freezes. If I am using the Internet and step away for 10 minutes, I will have to reboot to get a connection. If I close the lid (it's a notebook), I will have to reboot to get online. Isn't this damaging to my computer? I usually turn it off and unplug it when I am not using it so it does not overheat. So I am always starting it upas it is.
A: you could have spyware or it could be a hardware problem.
Search for Spyware Doctor and down load it and run it is free but will not monitor your computer with out purchase.
Q: how to format hard drive and reinstall windows xp on dell notebook computer?
A: You should format at least once a year.
Boot the computer with the XP CD in the drive and allow setup to begin. When you come to the screen where you select the drive partition you should see the drive listed with all the space listed as unpartitioned. If the drive was in use previously, you'll need to delete all the existing partitions. To do this you'll have to hit the 'D' key followed by the 'L' key. The screen instructions will be visible to guide the process.
Once all the existing partitions are deleted the display will show the total unpartitioned disk space.
Hit the 'C' key to create a partition. If you only want one partition then hit enter and the entire disk space will be allocated to the C Drive, but it will be NTFS, assuming the drive is 32GB or larger. However, if you want to create several FAT32 partitions then do not hit the Enter key. Instead, hit 'Backspace' until the cursor moves to the first digit. Enter the size of the first partition to be created.
Repeat the create partition process as many times as you want till all available space is allocated to partitions.
Once all the partitions have been created, use the 'Up' arrow key to select the C drive partition to install XP on and select to format it with FAT32 if you are sure that NTFS isn't a viable file system in your situation.
After XP has been installed and is running, navigate to Disk Management and format the other partitions with either FAT32 or NTFS. This step is necessary before the partitions will be available for use.
Since this is a clean install and the drive has to be formatted, it only makes sense to use the tools that are available in XP without having to bother with a floppy diskette.

Q: When & where can I get the best deals and coupons for a new Dell Inspiron 1520 notebook computer?
I have heard Dell offers deals up to 50% off and I saw coupons for up to $500 off before I was really looking to buy anything. My funds are limited but I need a high end laptop for my family. Does anyone know what time of year Dell offers their best deals? Do most coupon sites carry the same Dell coupons?

Q: Replacing a notebook computer in a wireless network?
I have recently replaced my Dell notebook computer. The one I am replacing is also a fairly new Dell that is being exchanged per the warranty. I have a wireless network setup as follows: high-speed cable modem to Linksys WRT54G router to Dell Desktop. It is a secure network that is working perfectly. Will I need to change any settings in the router setup, or can it pickup the new computer's address? I have run the wireless utility on the new notebook, but it is not connecting to the internet. Any help would be great!
A: as stated above, make sure you have entered your wireless key correctly into the new laptop, however, you need to make sure that MAC filtering has not been enabled on the router, if it has you will need to manually add the MAC address of the new laptop to the router or it will deny access to the new laptop until you do, just as if you had not entered the correct encryption key for the router.

Q: Does windows vista slow down your notebook computer? Do the versions of vista effect the performance of the pc
Hi. Just a couple of questions.
1)Does windows vista slow down your notebook computer? 2)Do the versions of vista effect the performance of the pc?
3)Does the 32/64 Bit Operating System effect the performance on the computer?
4)Could you suggest any ways to improve system performance.
I have recently brought a new Dell notebook computer. The specs are at the maximum. They are as follows:
Model: Dell Inspiron 1520
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 @ 2.00 GHz
Memory (RAM): 4.0 GB 667 MHz
Graphics Card 8600M GT 256MB
Windows Vista Business Edition-
32 bit Operating System
A: well .. vista uses more resources than xp .. so its slower than xp on any given machine ... and 64 bit operating system would be faster but the problem is there isnt much support for it yet .. u need applications and drivers written in 64 bit and 32 bit is still the norm .. so unless ur a power user and know what ur doing u should avoid 64 bit ..
Q: I have a Dell E1505 inspiron notebook computer. How can I restore it to the factory settings?
I don't have a restore disk, but if I need to get one I will, but I don't know where to get one.
A: The only way to restore your Dell to its original factory is to use an image disk or if you back up your laptop right after you bought it, you can use that backup disc to restore your laptop. You can try calling Dell to get a restore disc. Don't know if they will send you one but it doesn't hurt to try.
Q: How do I format the hard drive so I can start over with a clean Dell computer?
I go to Command Prompt, type "format c:", "Y" yes proceed with the format, and now it says "Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N)"
What are "opened handles" and what is dismounting?
How can I format my hard drive?
I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 Notebook computer, and have here two CDs that came with the computer (I am not sure if there are any more "important" ones laying around somewhere). One is the Application CD, the other is the Drivers, Utilities, and Applications CD. Which one has the XP Operating System in it? Is it in a different CD do you think?
I forgot to mention that when I press "y"es to dismount the hard drive, it says that it cannot and then it won't let me format the drive.
A: You cannot initiate a format of the hard drive containing your operating system while you are using your operating system.
Get your Windows install CD and boot to it. There is a formatting utility there that will format, then reinstall your OS.
Sounds like the OS would be on a disk called "Operating System Recovery Disk" or something like that.

what do i need to remove to make a notebook not to have any of my files
A: dont physically remove anything just find the disk that your computer/operating system came with and reinstall/reset it...... but just to let you know there isnt much of a market for older computers due to rapidly changing technology, unless you are willing to sell for like 200 tops
