Q: HP notebook?
Hello,
I am currently considering to buy a notebook and I was wondering which was better, HP Pavilion or HP-Compaq Presario? Any reasons why one may be better over the other?
Secondly, is there any difference between the processor Intel and AMD? Or would you say they are both as good?
I require a notebook for my studies and the basic requirement is a 2GB RAM on the notebook. Compaq Presario has a model that meets this requirement, though it isn't my favourite. I was considering a HP Pavilion DV2205 or TX1005, but I would have to upgrade the RAM to 2GB under -third party- (the retail shops do not have the original). I'm not sure if this will be safe. What do you think?

I've decided to get a Pavilion instead of the Compaq. I believe Pavilion has a better graphic card, I think, and I require this for my studies. Regarding the tablet PC tx1005, I don't think I will get that though it may be very useful to me in the future.

Q: I have a new HP notebook that is not equipped with any webcam software to use the camera. What should I do?
I have a new HP special edition notebook that is not equipped with any webcam software to use the webcam to take pictures and videos and things like that. Although I am still able to have video chats I should be able to us this feature for other uses. Any suggestions?
A: HP have cheaped out in that departmeant. They provide the camera and the driver but no independent software. Dont worry theres nothing wrong with your laptop thats just how HP sells them.
Yes im sure theres some software out there. unfortunately i cant personally recommend any.

I just bought a new HP Notebook, and for some reason the keyboard always switches to the second set of characters printed on the keys. How do you switch back and forth?
A: Hold down the FN key (bottom left) and press the scroll/num lk key (top row on the right).
Q: How do I make the screen brighter on my HP Notebook?
I have an HP notebook, and would like to make the screen brighter and more vivid. I have windows XP.
A: Notebooks in generally have a fucntion key on the keyboard next to Ctrl or near it. Press and hold that and there should be an increase brightness key as an alternate for one of the number keys.
Q: How does Apple Airport Extreme Wireless adapter USB work on my HP notebook?
Currently, I installed Mac OS X in my HP pavilion dv 2130us.
I am not able to go online because my wireless card does not work for Apple system.
I found an item called "Apple Airport Extreme Wireless adapter USB" in ebay.
I wonder if it will work without setting up a Airport Extreme Station. Does the adapter can get my notebook go online with normal PC router setup?

A: How do you have Mac OS X installed on your HP system, unless you did it with the illegal OSx86? If you did, which you must have, then there is no guarantee that anything will work with it, because it is hacked software and has little security.
Q: How to change a hard drive on an HP notebook?
Does anyone know how to change the hard drive on an HP Pavillion ZV5000 Notebook? Or know where I can get instructions?
A: Yes, throw the HP notebook away and get a real computer.... haha, just kidding. No really. If you bring it in to a Box store like Best Buy, they will save you time and the hassle of trying to change it yourself. Just pay them a few bucks and you'll be out the door in no time.

A: You have to look for the software that enables you to watch the tuner video.

Im running Vista premium on an HP Inspiron entertainment notebook PC. The onscreen volume meter is extremely annoying because it stays onscreen for about 30 seconds before disappearing. How do i remove it?
A: I'm sorry, but unfortunately you cannot. The volume displays etc. are integrated into the Operating System. The only way to remove this would be to format your computer, and install Vista or XP WITHOUT using a HP Manufactured Vista/XP Disc.

Hi actually i just bought a Hp dv6000 notebook which comes with nvidia Ge Force 7200 graphics card. So is it possible to upgrade the graphics to a more better one.
A: It is not an onboard graphics card so you can upgrade it with a suitable and better one . But it should be enough for many users . You can also add some extra ram if you receive more power from your next graphic card.
Q: Please help if you can! Where can I find a lcd monitor for a hp notebook?
I had a 90 day warranty left on my hp notebook and the monitor stopped working. Upon calling HP of this problem, I shipped it to them and now they are telling me I had to have a new LCD monitor for it and that of course, this isn't covered under warranty...Go figure! They are also telling me it is going to cost me 738.00 to have it repaired and the truth is, it cost me less than 700.00 brand new. I am now left to just try and fix it myself. I also would really like everyone to know, if you buy a hp, DON'T buy an extended warranty because the original warranty probably isn't any good! Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Q: What is average battery life for a brand new HP Notebook, 9 series? The ones with the 8-cell batteries.?
I Just bought myself a new HP notebook today, a pavilion 9500 with 2 GB Ram, 240 GB of storage (2 x 120 GB HDD) and a 17 inch screen. I really like the computer, but I haven't taken it off the charger. I have school tomorrow for about 4 hours, and I'm wondering whether or not I should bring my charger.

Q: How to keep backlight on when charging HP Pavilion notebook?
Nothing is wrong with my HP notebook and the backlight works nice and bright. The problem is that when I plug it in to charge it and still use it, the backlight dims and makes it harder to see the screen. Is their an option to turn this off and keep the backlight on?
The power options in control panel has no setting to fix this. The question is still open.
A: This sounds like a setting in your Power Options. Btw, it's usually the other way around, ususally it dims on un-plugged to save the battery!
Might be you can just increase the brightness on the keyboard. My IBM is Function PageUp to brighten the screen.
Q: My hp notebook is seperating on the bottom and I can't close it?
The lower screen where it's welded or glued together is coming apart. If I try to close the notebook it gets worse. I called hp and they say warranty will probably not cover it but to send it in. I didn't break it I just went to close it and heard a crack :/
A: If the plastic is broken, you can use a super glue, close it first then join it together, do not superglue the hinges otherwise you cant open it and it will break further.
