Q: HP notebook: software and accessory question?
Hi. So, I decided to get a HP laptop over a Toshiba. The only thing is that the Toshiba had 'Toshiba face recognition software". My question is: Is there a face recognition software that works for any notebook that I can buy for my HP?
Also what is the cheapest price you can find for a fingerprint reader (that you can connect to your laptop externally)? Please provide a link or name the store. I think that the microsoft finger print reader generally costs the least but I want to know what store or website sells it the cheapest. try to make sure the website is a trustworthy one. =]
A: The face recognition is just a software, and can be run on any computer, I am using A4tech warrior cam and it came with face recognition software and works on any computer. you can get it very easily. No idea about the fingerprint reader.
If you are going for Toshiba just for the face recognition then don't because you can have it on any computer.
Q: Which is better notebook- HP PAVILION DV2701TX or HP PAVILION DV6703TX ?
It's urgent. I am going to buy an HP notebook. I am cofused for its 2701 and 6703 models. Latter one has better specs- 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA 8400M GS 256 MB than the first one- 1 GB RAM, NVIDIA 8400M GS 128 MB. Rest of the features are same and good for me. DV6703TX will cost me Rs 2000 or $50 more than another one. But DV2701TX has better looks as it features HP special 'VERVE' imprint finish and this model will give me free some specially designed classic accessories like wireless mouse, carry case, notebook transparent protector etc. Help me to choose style or better configuration for just $50.
A: I suggest you go for dv 6703 tx. Am gng 2 buy the same laptop. I've studied allot abt all laptops mostly all manufacturers. This laptop is kinda all in one laptop. Main thing wen u get tired or bored U can play games also. (NVIDIA 8400 GS 256MB). I'll Go for Hp pavilion DV 6703 TX.
Q: notebook HP Pavillon ze5500.System information?
I have bought an notebook HP Pavillon ze5500.
I am checking the System information Right click "My Computer" from the desktop and select "Properties".under the General tab when you see system information,I see
Intel(R)CPU 2.30GHz
1.10GHz 190MB of Ram. I am 100% sure this computer has 256MB in one slot. Also, two different CPU speed doesnt make sense to either.
When checking the Information from Start+All Programs+accessories+system tools+system information it shows me CPU Speed at Processorx86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~1593 Mhz.
Well I see 3 different Speeds here
Can anyone help me here
A: dear member,
if your computer is brand new then chances are your computer is using a technology similar to hyper threading and so it will have advanced power management basically computer adjusts the CPU speed whenever it deems fit and appropriate for what you are using or doing. That memory loss sounds like you got Integrated Video Card which isn't that hot since performance is taxing the CPU load.
kind regards,
ben
Q: I currently have 1 HP Desktop..Works great! I'm also looking at a HP notebook for on the road...?
What is all involved in getting a notebook? Like, what else do I need to buy for internet connection/accessories? What did you guys/girls buy when you got a laptop?
I have alltell, so I can't get a card through them.
For a charger? Internet? Cards for internet? I NEED HELP!!!
A: When you buy a notebook you don't need to get a charger it already comes with it. As for the internet almost all the new laptops have a wireless card built it. So if you're close to a wifi hotspot you can used that if not you can use the ethernet port for the internet, that's the same connection you use to connect to your desktop. The rest of the accessories is optional like a carrying bag or a portable mouse.
Q: Why doesn't my HP 90W Air/Auto/AC Combo Adapter charge my laptop in my car...?
It will power the laptop but not charge it. I have a HP DV6000 laptop and the charger I purchased (and it wasn't cheap!) can be seen at http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebook/notebook_hp/batteries/4/accessories/PC628A%2523ABA
A: Without looking, my theory is that the car outlet doesn't supply enough power to do anything beyond running the laptop, and I'm sure it's just doing the bare minimum at that.
Q: Hp TV Tuner Question?
Im thinking of buying this tv tuner for my hp
http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebook/notebook_hp/audio_video/1/accessories/GP574AA%2523ABA
and was wondering if the antennae doesnt work and i unscrew it, what cables will i need to go from my tv to the tuner

Q: Customizing an HP laptop..?
Consumer Reports said that the HP dv9700t is a great laptop, so I went on the site and decided to see what this laptop has to offer. I use a lot of big programs like The Sims 2 (and soon to be The Sims 3), Adobe Photoshop, ect all while running ITunes, and a few internet explorers, so I need a fast computer.
How are these for settings? Any recommendations? (As it is, the computer will cost me approx 1600$, but I have added quite a few accessories.) Is there anything that I should upgrade, or downgrade?

I had done this on the American site.. but I can't seem to find this laptop on the Canadian one!
A: well, so u r a Sims2 freak? me too :D. and I'm looking forward to 2009 for The sims 3... well for smooth gaming experience I'd advice you to Downgrade it to windows XP, but your computer is strong enough to get hold of Vista, and Vista supports DirectX 10...well I'd be satisfied with those specs. You do not need to upgrade or downgrade anything. in addition to that if you downgrade to windows XP yourself you will have to search all of the drivers yourself and... well takes a lot of time, I've done it and know what it takes. But if you take the laptop to HP service center and they downgrade it, there should be no problem.

Q: how does this tv tuner work? Can i record tv wirelessly?
I'm confused because it says something about an antenna but would like to watch cable. http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/notebook/notebook_hp/audio_video/4/accessories/RM436AA%2523ABA
and i have an hp laptop fyi
A: A TV tuner converts the antenna's modulated radio frequency (RF) signal to a format that can drive your display. A tuner isn't suitable for cable as they use different encoding and modulation signals. Just take the output of your cable receiver and connect it to your video card and this should be all you need. Just make sure that you use matching standards eg composite to composite, s-video to s-video, componet to component etc.

I'm going to college in a couple weeks and really need to get a computer. Both cost the same amount and are very similar as far as what I'm looking for. I'm way too indecisive. What do you think?
A: im actually having the same issue, trying to decide between those two (dv2500t and vaio cr series) though im slightly leaning towards the dv2500t only because hp offers quickplay where you can watch dvds/movies or listen to music w/out actually having to boot up the entire computer system, ie start windows etc which takes longer and also uses up more battery. though i think either would be good for college, im entering my fourth/last year and really you just need a basic notebook to take notes in class and do research etc. also the dv2500t is supposed to have reduced heat given off my the computer compared to its predecessor the dv2000t. so i guess id say the hp one, but really both are really good, sony and hp make good computers and such. im hoping bestbuy and such have good discounts so i can get a new computer for a bit less. well good luck finding one, sorry that wasnt too helpful, im a bit indecisive as well

A: The faster your processor and the more up to date your graphics card is helps. To play you need the minimums on the box if your computer has a faster processor and a better graphics card(Nvidia or ATI Radeon) makes the game smoother and better.
Q: Notebook help?
I was going to buy a laptop and I couldn't decide between Apple and Hp. They both have the same accessories but Apple is more expensive than Hp. Which is better to buy?
A: HP the PC LT. Apple has compatibility problems with some windows programs and is priced higher genenerally.
