Q: Best ram brand to upgrade hp pavilion notebook?
I recently bought a new hp pavilion dv6607 entertainment notebook. It only came with 1 gb of memory, and I want to upgrade to 2 gbs for vista. It came with 2 sticks of 512mgb, for a total of 1 gig. I know very little about memory brands and which are top and which are not. What are some top brands that would be suitable for this notebook? Thanks again!
A: Top brands: Crucial (my personal favorite), G. Skill and Corsair
Q: who can help me do a full system restore on a HP pavilion notebook pc?
I have done full system restore before to several pc that i owned but i cant access the full recovery application on the hp pavilion notebook pc. I donot have a cd that takes me directly to that and on the help aplication i cant find an option on how to get there. Do i need a cd for it? why wasn't it provided when i puchased the brand new computer? Do hp requires you to puchase the cd separetly? Could it be downloaded from somewhere?
A: The first thing HP tells you when you turn on you brand new comp, it's to copy recovery discs. I copy 3 DVDs.
You should have that option, or make the recovery from the recovery partition
Q: Why is my HP Pavilion notebook computer more susceptable to viruses and malware than my desktop?
Both computers are on the same wired router, and both go to the same "sites". The notebook seems to pick up malware overnight. It has to be constantly scanned to remove such. What can I do to stop this? Why is the laptop picking up so much more than the desktop? Both are using the same virus protection plans. The laptop incessantly blinks on the screen until after I run a "good" scan!
A: Laptops are most of the time, more susceptible to malware as most of the time, their hardware is slightly less powerful than that of a desktop computer, due to it having to occupy a much smaller space. If they were exactly the same, you would have to carry around something the size of the 'tower' of your desktop computer.
Q: Adding or Replacing a video card to an HP Pavilion DV9700Z notebook?
I recently purchased a new notebook, HP Pavilion dv9700z, and was wondering if it is possible to add/replace the video card.
The current video card is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit). I have 2GB of RAM. If you need any further specs just ask.
A: I am sorry to say that replacing that card would cost as much as a new laptop. What you have at the moment is an IGP (intergrated graphics processor) this is where the GFX card is strapped to the motherboard and uses local RAM for its memory. Laptop cards are very very hard to find compatibilty correctness between them, so i would recommend that next time you go for a good GFX card in a laptop like a
8400GS, 8400GT, 8600GS, 8600GT or
HD2300, HD2400, HD2400XT, HD2600, HD2600XT. The higher the number the more advanced and powerful the Graphics.
So i am sorry but it is near impossible to change a UMA IGP into a discrete graphics card with its own memory.
Q: How to recover HP Pavilion dv6809wm Notebook without a disk?
Is it possible to recover my HP Pavilion dv6809wm Notebook PC without a disk? And please don't give me a link to buy the recovery disks, because they are asking for too much, and I simply cannot afford it..
Tracy L, I don't know how it happened, but the recovery partition is gone... :S
A: Unless you deleted the recovery partition you can restore the unit from the hard drive. Just press F11 when the HP screen first shows.
Here is the manual pages on recovery.

ADD: As long as you have the Windows Sticker just borrow a matching OS disk from a friend, install the OS using your number. Once installed you can download the rest of the drivers from the HP site. The ethernet normally will work with just the Vista or XP setup.
Q: How do I bring my HP pavilion notebook out of standby?
The computer is still on but the screen won't come back on. It stays black.
The screen is black but the computer is still on, I can't see anything but a black screen. How do I get the screen to come back on?
A: move the mouse, press the enter button, press the power button once....if it is on standby mode, the button the shows that the computer is on, should be blinking...if it isn't then its not in standby mode.....
Q: HP Pavilion Notebook dv6000 wireless network will not work when running on battery power.?

Q: Is there a way to transfer the contents from my Dell Inspiron 1000 disk drive to my new Hp Pavilion notebook?
I received the Dell Inspiron 1000 like 3 years ago as a gift from a pawn shop. So much for warranty! It went dead completely a few months ago after numerous time of replacing the a/c adapter for power failure. So far I've managed to remove the disk drive from it and heard I could use something called a Usb Enclosure to transfer what's on it to my new laptop. Any ideas?
A: yeah you can buy "hard drive enclosures" from places such as newegg.com or tigerdirect.com
the old harddrive goes into the hard drive enclosure, and then the enclosure plugs into your new computer via USB.
Q: What's the difference between a HP Pavilion Laptop and a HP Pavilion Notebook?
Are laptops and notebooks the same?
A: Oh, how pathetic am I? Despite the category of this question, when I saw "HP" I thought "Harry Potter."
My understanding is that most companies' notebooks tend to be smaller than their own laptops, although one company's notebook may still be the size of another company's laptop. Size reductions are often in the keyboard.

Q: how many watts needed to charge an hp pavilion notebook and a sony ericsson cell phone?
I bought a Smart ac 150 power inverter by Wagan to use in the car on trips. The package showed laptops, but when used...didn't function.
A: My pavillion draw 1.6 amps on a 115 supply so about 185 watts are needed to supply the laptop. Well over the constant supply wattage for your inverter.
Q: I have a HP Pavilion Notebook, how would I clean the dust off the motor?
I hear the computer struggeling to keep cool more now than a year ago, it has never been cleaned in two years.
How would I take it apart to dust it w/o messing anything up? Do I just unscrew one screw and clean it that way or take it completely apart.....?
What is recommended?
A: i take it you have a bummed cooling fan then?
don't worry about taking the fan apart, but take the laptop apart until you can see the fan.
get a can of air and dust whatever you can inside the laptop (if you can see the fan, you can probibally see the rest of the laptop innards too) remember to clean your computer out at LEAST every other month.
P.S. if your fan is making a grinding noise, it's time to get another one.
