Q: notebook......Laptop?
I am looking at getting a Laptop computer, but i am wondering what is the difference between a laptop and a notebook? Which is better to have? Are they the same just called by different names? Please help me out.

A: they're just names for portable computers. Yes, they're the same.

Q: notebook (laptop)?
Is the design (not the features) of the aspire acer 3610 and 3680 the same? like when both notebooks are closed does the cover look the same? because i was just about to purchase a skin for my laptop but they only have 3680! will it fit a 3610?

A: It very possibly could. I would check into it more.

Q: What is a good, affordable notebook/laptop for online college student?
I currently take classes online, and only have a desktop. I am in serious need/want of a laptop/notebook, and am not sure where to begin. I was comparing the Toshiba Satellite A205-S4777 and Sony VAIO CR290E2, and I also like the Dell Inspiron (but wouldn't know where to begin!). I am on a budget, so I am wanting to purchase an affordable, but quality and appropriate laptop for personal/school use. Suggestions, information, and feedback greatly appreciated.

A: Hi, just the other day a friend asked me the same thing and I found her this great little jewel: Dell Inspiron 1525, great price and beautiful design, lots of colors and pretty well equipped, check it out! ☼

Q: What notebook laptop computer should I purchase?
I am a student and I do not feel knowledgeable about laptop notebook computers. I want to buy one that can last for a couple of years, yet price is a big concern. After doing plenty of research about laptops, I feel completely clueless. Do you think you can recommend a laptop with the following information? 1. I will not use my laptop every day. 2. I will write many papers/presentations with it, and that is the main purpose of the purchase. Therefore, I would like a one that allows papers to be easily transferred to other computers and has good tools for academic projects. 3. I will use the internet with the laptop and that's very important because the classes I am enrolled in often post things online and I have to turn documents in online. 4. I hopefully will have an iTunes account on it. Those are the four criteria. The MacBook is really quite expensive for me, but do you think it would be better to buy high or just buy low due to my needs. I probably will never make songs and videos on it. Thanks for your help and consideration.

A: I like sony's viao, toshiba, dell. and almost all laptop comes with wireless card. look at the bestbuy, circuitcity, officedepot web sites and store: www.bestbuy.com www.circuitcity.com www.officedepot.com check out the prices you will be able to find something around $1000 to $1500. I would suggest to get the intel centrino duo processor, 1 GB or more of RAM, 100 GB or more or hard drive space. you will need microsoft office software which can be purchased seperately if it doesn't come with it. This if for writing papers and making presentations. Don't worry about the other softwares they can be purchased seperately based on your needs. by the way you don't need mac for itunes/ipod you can use the windows too. I prefer windows over mac because they are better compatible for school environment in terms of software and stuff.

Q: Where can I find a really good laptop notebook cheap?
I am looking for a notebook laptop, thin, lightweight, built-in wireless card, and with Windows XP not Vista. (Unless you can convince me that Vista is a good thing.) It would be great if it also had a DVD player on it. I don't want to spend a lot, like not over $500 or $600. Where can I find one? I want it new, because I want the warranty and the backup from a reputable dealer. Help?

A: To get one for that price with XP you'll have to look on eBay but I bought a new computer with Vista and it's not bad. I don't recommend anyone to upgrade their old XP to Vista but when buying a new computer it's not a bad idea because it's built for it. When looking for a laptop here's what you need to look for: Get at least 1024MB of Memory (1GB) Get at least 100 GB hard drive (The more the merrier on those two^) Get Vista Home Premium (Basic is not worth it, you'd be better off with anything else) This is very feasible for your price range and you can definitely get one with a DVD burner (possibly even lightscribe if you look at HP) Buy when they're on sale, all models go on sale and it'll save you a lot of cash. I recommend HP because of their reliability but since you're on a budget (like most of us are) take a hard look at Acer. They start a little cheaper than some of the brands but do make very good computers. Hope this helps and email me with any more questions.

Q: how to check if the laptop/notebook that is brand new?
I'm planning to buy a notebook/laptop but the problem is i don't know how to check it if that is brand new or used. any suggestions?

A: BUY IT BRANDNEW FRESH OUT THE BOX FROM DELL OR WHOM EVER YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH

Q: Can I transfer an uploaded screensaver from one notebook / laptop to another without still having the disc?
I have a screensaver on my old notebook / laptop that i uploaded from a disc and I want to put it on my new notebook. I no longer have the disc. How do I save it onto a thumb drive and transfer it onto my new one- is it possible? My old system was windows xp, my new one is windows vista.

A: If it is a regular "screensaver" then it will have a .scr extension. Simply search your computer for *.scr (include the asterisk to get ALL files that match that extention) Copy to new pc, then put it in the directory with all the OTHER ones.. not just any old directory. IF it's a screensaver that had an installer program that came with it, that likely won't work

Q: How much is my Compaq Presario 2500 notebook laptop worth?
I have a used Compaq Presario 2500 notebook laptop. it is broken down but it is currently being fixed. I've had this for 4 years the most and some of my friends and family say its worth £180 and £210. But I'm not a geek in all of this so...how much could I sell this for?

A: 250 dollars.

Q: does a laptop notebook have internet if you connect it to a phone jack?
i am thinking getting a laptop and i was wondering if i got a notebook laptop could it still be hooked up to a phone jack and still have the internet? Is it just the wireless internet that the notebooks don't have?

A: Notebook computers typically come with a phone jack, an ethernet jack (CAT-5e), and wireless. You can use any one of them for your internet connection. You can be connected to a phone jack to receive and send FAXes at the same time you are connected to the Internet using either the ethernet jack or wireless connection.

Q: What features do you think are most important for a laptop/ notebook?
I'm thinking of buying a laptop(notebook?) because I will be travelling between countries soon. I use computers mostly for fun and a bit work work. I will have a website soon. I also like to play computer games sometimes. Can you recommend any important features a laptop/notebook must have? All opinions welcome.

A: If you are traveling, you want to make sure the laptop have a Wi-Fi and have extra battery.

Q: What is the most popular/ultimate notebook / laptop computer brand?
The most ultimate notebook laptop brand.

A: Get Alienware.....awesome machines....as long as you don't mind spending a little bit more for it. If money is an issue and you want something cheaper, I recommend a Dell. Don't go with Compaq or HP if you can avoid it, they are just proprietary, production machines.

Q: How exactly do you know if you can add a graphics card to a notebook / laptop? ?
Is it easy to install a graphics card to a notebook / laptop?

A: Express/pci card slot. the tiny wide rectangle slot usually on the left but either way. And... they are VERY rare and if you even got one were looking at 2000 dollars lol! And your computer probably wouldn't even support it and same for most at the moment. When plugNplay power-house devices start becoming more interchangeable and efficient for notebooks then you might see the light but for now... nuh uh. :( I want one too.

Q: What is the best laptop/notebook for someone doing semi-professional photography?
My mom needs a laptop/notebook that can hold a lot of pics and download pics easily. She's not the most computer savvy but learns easily. She wants to have some photo software and printing capabilities. What's new? Easy to use? What's the best? Prices? Thanks in advance!

A: The best in media is the Toshiba X205 costs under 2000 comes with a NV8700 and a humungous dual HD. The Dell 1520 comes with a NV8600 graphics card and three screen resolution choices and goes for about 1500. Those would be my two top picks.

Q: Where can I buy a laptop/notebook computer and pay monthly?
I need a laptop/notebook computer and i can only pay for it monthly in small amounts. Any suggestions for websites or stores? Thanks in advance.

A: Anyplace that will let you pay for a laptop with a credit card will do this. You pay with your credit card, and pay it off one month at a time. If you don't have a credit card or can't get one, find Tony Soprano or someone who'll make a personal loan because if you don't qualify for a credit card, you probably won't be getting store or website financing, and you're walking out of the store empty handed. The financing plans offered by the retailer or website are generally not as good a deal as promotional credit cards. Read their terms, and compare the plans. Renting someone else's money is NEVER cheap.

A: Dell. Best brand name and well worth it. Im getting a laptop from dell as they have well built and way good performance.
